It is worth repeating here that the Data Viewer for our TrakBox platform can be downloaded and installed free of charge. The viewer will allow you to load and analyse pre-recorded worm tracks using any TrakBox platform. It will allow you to generate interactive reports as well as allow you to export the raw data for further analysis. For the moment the TrakBox Viewer is available to be downloaded and installed for the MS Windows platform from here. If you require a Mac OS X version then please contact us using the contact us button below and we will try to help you out.

More nematodes to track

We are now working on expanding the remit of TrakBox beyond just C elegans - not that TrakBox can only track C. elegans - but we are now making sure our code will track much larger worms too. The other development is the prototype of our StimPak add-on - which allow monitoring of parameters such as temperature as well as capturing button presses or other triggers, and last but not least the ability to provide stimuli - so tapping the dish will now be possible soon - we've been busy! 🤓

EMbody now has a YouTube channel

We now have a YouTube channel which will allow us to show Video Tutorials on how to use TrakBox and other products. The videos will be added bit by bit and will be linked to directly from the online user manuals. We are taking a short well deserved break, this year saw the launch of the TrakBox product with our first public showing of our automated tracking system at the International Worm Conference in LA in June 2017. We look forward to see more of you in the worm community in the coming year and especially at the European meting in Barcelona later in 2018.

Wormtrack Movies

This video shows how through TrakBox it is possible to generate a real-time video of the worm under scrutiny over the entire recording. In this video we show just 1 hour of a 10 hour+ recording (video shown greatly speeded up to save on bandwidth!). TrakBox: a multitude of data from worm tracks

Not only can TrakBox track a nematode for hours on end, but the data generated as a consequence provides a wealth of information on worm behaviour. As canoe seen below, the TrakBox viewer software allows you to step through a worm track - frame by frame - giving you overall information about the worm's behaviour as well as instantaneous snapshots of activity. As well as this you can get an accurate picture of the time the worm spends dwelling or roaming (as well as time spent quiescent) in the detailed dwell plot shown below. If you want a dynamic view of the worm's activity then it is possible to retrospectively create a movie (video) showing the worm's behaviour - with an inset showing the worm's overall position on the plate.…

Updates to TrakBox analysis software

One of the things that was invaluable at our recent trip to the #Worm17 conference in LA was getting feedback on the features of our analysis software from would be end-users. In particular we have upgraded our TrakBox to include two new features: the 1st allows the user to highlight a rectangle of space on the worm trajectory map and the software will automagically calculate the amount of time the worm has spent in that area.
